I am entering my fifth season at Manchester United, responsible for the education provision of players enrolled in our academy. My main area of work is with those enrolled on our full-time training model, internally known as the MANUSS programme (Manchester United Schoolboy Scholarship) and also for the education element of our U18 youth team scholarship programme. The aim of my role is to ensure that involvement in our training programmes doesn’t detrimentally affect the educational progress of our players. A further key part of my role involves the development of ‘A United Education’ which is an informal education programme that engages our players in a personal development curriculum in an array of areas such as financial management, equality and diversity and personal interests.
